The Santuario di Monserrato, which dates back to the seventeenth century, is a monument dedicated to the Black Madonna of Monserrato, co-patroness of the city. It stands on the Monserrato hill, in a place that has been a destination for pilgrimages since the Middle Ages.

The sanctuary can also be reached on foot, by taking a 2km route surrounded by greenery that retraces a Via Crucis of thirteen pillars, erected at the end of the nineteenth century on the north side of the hill overlooking the city of Borgo San Dalmazzo

The building is surrounded by four wings of arcades and the facade above the main portico bears a fresco depicting the crucifixion. The sanctuary stands in a dominant and panoramic position with respect to the city. The facade and the portico are ideally placed to offer a vast view of the city that extends over the Cuneo plain, also spanning the Alpine peaks. The sanctuary also hosts the well-known exhibition Presepi di Monserrato, organised in the months of December and January.

The Teatro di Monserrato is located nearby, used for shows and concerts in the summer season. The Parco Grandis, the green lung of the city, lies at the foot of the hill. Inside there is an adventure course that includes aerial sections between the trees, connected by steel cables, suspended wooden platforms and ropes. Here, children can tackle the adventure course independently and free of charge.
