CHURCH OF SAN PIETRO IN VINCOLI - LIMONE PIEMONTE
The Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Pietro in Vincoli is located in the centre of the municipality of Limone Piemonte. The structure, dating back to the twelfth century, embodies the Romanesque and Gothic style. The three-nave interior houses an organ and a precious wooden pulpit from the 16th century. The Romanesque bell tower is even older, historical sources dating it to the 11th century.

The Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Pietro in Vincoli is located in the centre of the municipality of Limone Piemonte. The main entrance is located on the south side of Via Roma, while the secondary entrance faces on to the open space where the road widens, in front of the town hall.
The date of construction is uncertain but a few reliable clues attribute it to the 12th century and two apses, placed at the side of the bell tower, confirm the presence of a pre-existing building. The parish church is mentioned in official documents starting from the 13th century. The current structure can be dated between the 14th and 15th centuries and features Romanesque and Gothic architectural elements.
The stone façade is distinguished by pilasters and houses a 15th century Deposition in the lunette of the portal. The interior has three naves, with cross vaults supported by twelve granite columns, representing the twelve most influential families in the area. It houses a finely carved 16th century walnut pulpit originally from the Benedictine Charterhouse of Chiusa di Pesio. The Romanesque bell tower dates back to the 11th century and was part of a previous construction.
The main elements of artistic interest include: the pointed arches, the cross vaults, the two holy water stoups in local white stone, the majestic altar of the Rosary in carved and gilded wood, the three canvases painted by local master Bottero and the Neo-Gothic Way of the Cross painted by Giovanni Battista Arnaud in 1891.
The church is one of the most noteworthy cultural sites in the Municipality of Limone and is also open to the public outside the hours of the religious services.
