The village of Valmala, in the Varaita Valley, is known for the Santuario della Madonna della Misericordia. From the area in front of the church, in winter, it is possible to practice cross-country skiing on various routes of varying difficulty. 30 km of green and blue slopes at 1,300 meters above sea level. An equipment hire service and changing room are available. There is a handy car park near the sanctuary.
