SANCTUARY OF BEATA VERGINE DELLE GRAZIE – VALSORDA AREA, GARESSIO

In the upper Valle Tanaro, Valsorda (2 km from the centre of Garessio) appears to the visitor as an enchanting village gathered around the imposing complex of the Santuario della Beata Vergine delle Grazie. The Marian cult here can be traced back to 1400, when a small oratory was built in the village, containing a fresco of the Virgin and Child. At the beginning of the twentieth century, a more impressive one was built next to the ancient sanctuary. It is of an eclectic style, and features a grandiose dome in reinforced concrete.
