The reference to Europe is an integral part of this identity: relationships forged via marriages, ecclesiastical and military careers, literary references (troubadour poetry, the novella of Griselda, Knight-errant) and cultural references place the Saluzzos and certain members of their leadership group at the centre of a system of relations that connects them, from time to time, to the papacy, the Empire, England, the Kingdom of France, the Kingdom of Aragon , to the Angevins, to the Duchy of Milan, Sicily, Sardinia and to the large and small states of the Peninsula. The museum is organised into a circular narrative layout divided into eleven rooms, each one illuminating a significant aspect or moment of the chivalrous and courtly society in the marquisate, and presenting one or more key characters of the relative period of history.
