The Roccolo was built around 1800 by Marquis Roberto Tapparelli D'Azeglio: a new and elegant summer residence for the holiday season, set alongside more ancient buildings. The castle is clearly visible from a distance. Located not far from the town of Busca, it is a neo-Gothic building with three towers whose imposing dimensions are veiled by the grace of its architectural lines. Inside, the large rooms, with frescoes and stuccoes, still preserve part of the furniture of the D'Azeglio family. Queen Margherita, wife of Umberto I, stayed there for many summers, as the Marquises’ guest, as did many other famous people who enjoyed the quiet and beauty of the place.

The structure is immersed in the splendid setting of a park built in the style of a romantic garden, where nature is given free reign to express itself. The intervention of famous landscape architect Xavier Kurten in the design of the park is documented. The park is, even today, one of the most striking in Piedmont thanks to the presence of its many panoramic paths, its cave, lake, fountains and monumental greenhouses (which host potted citrus trees in the winter period).
