LIMONE PIEMONTE, VALLE VERMENAGNA
MONTE CIAMOUSSÈ
VALLE VERMENAGNA
Ciamoussè is one of the great classics of ski mountaineering around Cuneo, as well as one of the most elegant peaks in the Limonetto basin: its slopes are always steep. Its sunny exposure and short approach make it one of the most interesting and popular itineraries. Enthusiasts can also enjoy other superb ski mountaineering outings in the same area: from the obvious and classic Ciotto Mien and Creusa routes to the secluded Rocca Bastera and the tiny jewels of Cime dell'Oro, not to mention the steep Frisson and the imposing Rocca dell'Abisso.

From the car park near the Limonetto ski lifts, take the downhill slope briefly and then continue along the narrow, snow-covered road along the Rocca dell'Abisso valley. After reaching and crossing a small bridge, the Ciamoussè pyramid stands slightly to the left right in front: climb the initial steep slopes sparsely covered with patches of bushes (rampants recommended with frozen or heavily tracked snow) to reach increasingly larger open spaces.
Continue with broad diagonals up to the base of the steep pyramid at the summit, taken directly up to the scenic peak with views of the sea and even Corsica.
Descend along the outward route or, if snow conditions are absolutely stable, along the steep northern slope to possibly turn again and climb back up to the Ciotto Mien or Creusa peaks.
