BRIC BOSCASSO
VALLE MAIRA
Bric Boscasso is just one of the great many ski mountaineering itineraries that can be enjoyed in the Unerzio Valley, starting off from the village of Chialvetta. It is a great classic, offering excellent skiing in the pine woods and several possible downhill variants. After fresh snowfalls, the fir tree wood ensures wonderful scenic views reaching as far as nearby Oronaye and the imposing Brec de Chambeyron.

Set off from Chialvetta on the orographic right of the stream and after a few minutes cross a bridge over to the opposite bank: continue along the valley floor through meadows and a well-signposted trail as far as the village of Pratorotondo.
Cross the stream again over another bridge and enter a large, slightly uphill meadow. Then go into the fir tree wood heading up to the summit passing by a superb, recently renovated hut at an altitude of about 2,200 metres near a clearing.
The woods give way after a few hundred metres to broad slopes that lead, in a south-east direction, to the base of the final gully: the final section is rather steep and narrow, culminating in a wide gap near the summit reached by following a narrow and exposed ridge.
Descend along the outward route.
