Palazzo Fauzone di Germagnano, one of the oldest buildings in the city, overlooks the wonderful Piazza Maggiore in Mondovì. The stately 13th-century house has environments that date to later on, - the 17th and 18th centuries- and that are no less fascinating and valuable.

Its rooms house the Museo della Ceramica “Vecchia Mondovì”, a place where visitors can rediscover the city’s great artisan tradition and admire some of the most emblematic productions. The exhibits offer a multimedia and innovative approach to the discovery of this ancient activity, retraced in all its processing phases.

The epic story of Monregalese industry is related through the history of its companies in the sector and through the stories of its workers and entrepreneurs who have brought local ceramics to glory. It hosts the most significant and important pieces, such as the essential decoration with the cockerel that has distinguished the local production since the mid-nineteenth century. Visitors can even discover, interactively, how different cultures perceive the world of ceramics, through elegant tables set "virtually". The museum is also the city's cultural hub, cyclically hosting temporary exhibitions of great value, showcasing the likes of Kandinsky or Manet.

The production unit is used by artists and artisans to create, works thanks to traditional and cutting-edge equipment, such as the brand-new 3D printer. Numerous educational activities for children and school children are on offer to bring the new generations closer to this fascinating technique.

The museum was established based on the strong wishes of Monregalese citizen Marco Levi, the last Jew of the centuries-old Israelite community of Mondovì, and owner of the historic Ceramica Besio. A well-known, cultured and generous figure, he donated a conspicuous collection of finds that belonged to his private collection.
