CASTLE OF ROCCA DE’ BALDI
Rocca de’ Baldi, “a place suspended in time” pervaded by silences and archaic noises, and a life that is barely perceivable: a handful of houses, stretches of cobbled colonnaded streets, the castle, the tower, the square, the church, a brotherhood, the abbey and precious country chapels.
From April 25th to October. Every Sunday and public holiday (with the exception of the last Sunday of the month), with departures at 2.45pm and 4pm. Reservations recommended.

The history of this ancient village, which still conveys its same characteristic noble atmosphere, is closely linked to the Morozzo della Rocca Marquises, one of the oldest feudal families that boasts over a thousand years of nobility.
The castle, with its halls and the park with its centuries-old trees, was originally built purely for defensive purposes. Subsequent interventions turned it into a residential building. Today the castle, in addition to hosting permanent and temporary exhibitions, is home to the Museo Provinciale storico-etnografico “Augusto Doro”. Its vast collection of research has developed a museum that illustrates the history of agriculture from its birth to the 1900s, the environmental transformations, as well as ethnographic and anthropological aspects of peasant culture.
It houses a number of significant, powerful blown-up shots by Paul Scheuermeier, Swiss researcher, and galleries of the images of American photographer Clemens Kalisher. A museum designed to express the image of the technical-cultural horizon of the past through the most modern means of multimedia communication.
