BAGNOUR REFUGE

About 7 km

A simple itinerary suitable for everyone in the heart of the magnificent bosco dell’Alevè, the largest reserve of Swiss Stone Pines in southern Europe. A genuine natural treasure, an expanse of ancient Swiss Stone Pines, by no coincidence known as the "Queens of the Alps", with long needles and strong roots that anchor them firmly to the ground. There is a majestic and monumental Swiss stone pine just a short distance from the Bagnour refuge, originally built in 1941 as a military outpost for sighting enemy aeroplanes: an impressive 18 meters tall, it is more than 550 years old.
