Torre San Giorgio rises in the plain at the foot of Mount Monviso, between the Po and the Varaita river. Its name is thought to recalls an ancient fortified structure. In the Middle Ages, it was a fief of noble families, until it was merged with the Marquisate of Saluzzo, later passing under the House of Savoy.

A 25 metre tall bell tower on the Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Giorgio watches over the roofs of the houses. The austere Piedmontese Baroque-style building dates back to 1710. The centre of the village also hosts the small Cappella di San Rocco, now used as a library. Erected in 1300 using donations collected from the population, it was embellished in the 1700s by the addition of some notable altarpieces by the Turin painter Rebaudengo.

A few steps from the town hall, the Pinacoteca civica houses 47 works by artist Carlo Sismonda, winner of numerous international awards.

The Sciu Sal park is located just outside the centre: a destination for those who love walking in nature, it is also a perfect location for events. Meanwhile, the Bosc d'la Perzon, or the Wood of the Prison lies on the border with the territory of the municipality of Saluzzo. The area is a 15,000 square meter WWF oasis full of trees and vegetation that is home to numerous species of birds.

The town of Torre San Giorgio hosts the Sagra del fritto misto in April. Fritto misto is a typically Piedmontese dish, a specialty of popular and peasant cuisine consisting of numerous courses of meat, vegetables, fruit and desserts, all fried. The event offers tasting sessions, as well as a market of local products and crafts.

Not many know this, but Torre San Giorgio was the town where, in the 1950s, the Albertengo bakers had the brilliant idea of producing what later became the famous Panettone Albertengo. This version of the delicious Christmas cake is handcrafted with natural yeast and considered an excellence of the local pastry-making art.
