The spring area of the Belbo river, located at the extreme southern end of the Langhe, is characterized by gently undulating reliefs hosting agricultural crops, wooded areas and wet meadows.

This aspect, very different from the classic Langhe landscape of high hills and deep depressions, is due to the lack of erosive action of the waterways, determined further downstream by the general geological rise of the Langa area.

The research performed on the local flora has made it possible to identify 352 plant entities, including several exceptional rarities, such as the early marsh orchid and the green-winged meadow orchid, together with a significant mountain flora including species such as the martagon lily.

The area of the Belbo springs lends itself beautifully to mid-season walks, while in winter, when it is particularly snowy, it is possible to practice cross-country skiing there. A dense network of narrow streets and paths offers an ideal terrain for mountain bikers and horse riders. 

A Naturalistic trail begins from Montezemolo , heading up to the Pilone del Foresto, lined with small panels that help hikers recognise the main tree and shrub species.

From the northern border, in the Municipality of Camerana, an artistic and naturalistic itinerary, called “Di albero in albero – Passeggiata nell’Arte” is accessible all year round (link: www.dialberoinalbero.it), created by the Municipality and the local Pro Loco in collaboration with the teachers and students of the Cortemilia-Saliceto Comprehensive Institute.
