PIAN MUNÈ SKI RESORT

A LITTLE PARADISE FOR SNOW LOVERS

In Pian Munè it is easy to let your thoughts fly freely through the mountain air as you observe Monviso, the King of Stone from just a stone’s throw away. This station boasts a truly enviable position which, over time, has earned it the nickname “white terrace on the plain”: on one side we see the imposing stone pyramid, on the opposite side, the vastness of the Cuneo flatlands.

Pian Munè has stood out particularly over the years for the vast range of services it offers visitors, whether they are skiers or not. Today it is a popular destination for families, which welcomes everyone with open arms, including their 4-legged friends! Its goal? To be a green station. Here, in addition to skiing, you can also practise snowboarding. The lifts take skiers to an altitude of 2,060 metres, and the slopes reach up to 1,530 m. If, on the other hand, you arrive without skis, you can enjoy a more intimate experience as you get close to nature.

Snowshoe excursions have now become a classic: there are many itineraries to choose from, to be travelled either independently or accompanied by a naturalistic guide. Instead, if you prefer the classic snow boot, the staff will be ready and willing to show you which itinerary is right for you. The climb to Testa di Garitta Nuova is the right destination for those looking for fresh, immaculate snow. This peak, located between the Po Valley and the Varaita Valley, offers a splendid view of the Monviso chain. Starting from 1,500 metres you can reach the summit at an altitude of 2,385 m, then ski right down the mountain to your heart’s content, but there are also possibilities for simpler itineraries.

Here children are in their element: they can learn to ski, have fun with the fresh snow or even speed through the snow in a bobsleigh. It is worth stopping in the solarium area to enjoy some healthy relaxation, and savour the gastronomic specialties of the Po Valley in one of the two refuges. The perfect backdrops for revitalising breaks, quality and courtesy, are the norm here. The station is also open in summer, with cycling, and trekking trails, and the La Trebulina educational trail for families.
