HISTORICAL LIBRARY COLLECTIONS AND THE BODONI COLLECTION - SALUZZO

The rooms on the first floor of Palazzo dei Vescovi house approximately 17,000 volumes that make up its historical book collections, including the very important Bodoni collection. The latter consists of the books that Gianbattista Bodoni had brought to Saluzzo in 1814, now aligned in the large cabinet designed by the architect Michele Borda in 1821, embellished by the bust of the typographer. Bodoni’s “magnificent gift” was admired by many illustrious characters, including King Carlo Alberto, who saw it at the end of July 1833, and the sculptor Leonardo Bistolfi. Free admission.
