Over the years, the collections expanded rapidly, through a long series of donations and the depositing of state-owned finds from the archaeological excavation at the Arma del Graj.

The core of the exhibition consists of the archaeological section, dedicated to the production cycles in prehistoric and historical times. The stone, ceramic, glass and iron artefacts on display illustrate the techniques of production of material culture in use from prehistory to the end of the ancient age and their diffusion in different cultural spheres. A smaller part of the exhibition is also dedicated to the earth sciences, with references to mineralogy, and the phenomena of fossilisation and karst."
