CHURCH OF SANT’AMBROGIO - CUNEO
The origins of the building can be traced back to the help given to the people of Cuneo by the Milanese of the Lombard League for the reconstruction of the city destroyed by the Marquis of Saluzzo. The year was 1230 and the two populations exchanged patron saints as a sign of friendship. After a few ups and downs, between 1703 and 1743, a new church was built in honour of the Milanese saint, designed by Francesco Gallo but only completed in the 19th century. It is characterized by its polychrome façade, while the interior consists of a complex architectural scenography, decorated among others by Turin-born painters Milocco and Bianco.
