CHURCH OF SAN PIETRO IN VINCOLI – VILLAR SAN COSTANZO
Magnificently frescoed by the painter Pietro da Saluzzo in the fifteenth century, it is the church of the ancient Benedictine abbey founded in the seventh century. The cappella di san Giorgio, commissioned around 1467 by the abbot Giorgio Costanza di Costigliole, and the 11th century crypt, with cross vault and colonnade, are in good condition. In the chapel, from 1467 to 1469, drawing inspiration from the Golden Legend, Pietro da Saluzzo painted the episodes of the life and martyrdom of Saint George, some of which today are showing signs of damage.
