Apotheosis of the Baroque period, the church, with its monumental sandstone facade, is easy to spot in the medieval space of Piazza Maggiore. The construction of the sacred building, designed by Fossano-born architect Giovenale Boetto, began in 1664 and lasted until 1678. Inside, the church houses a pictorial cycle dedicated to St. Francis Xavier. This depicts some strikingly realistic episodes of the saint’s life in the apse and on the central vault.
