CASTLE MARCHESI DI SALUZZO
The Castello dei Marchesi di Saluzzo is located in the hamlet of Castellar, a few km from the centre of Saluzzo. It was built by the Marquises of Saluzzo in the 13th century and maintained by this dynasty until the 20th century. It stands on a rock fortress overlooking the residential part of the small village.
The castle can be toured with a guide, offering extensive historical and architectural information; the tour takes visitors through the galleries, rooms, a collection of weapons and uniforms from the Risorgimento and the “Regio Esercito Italiano”, the basements and the castle garden. Moreover, one of the towers houses a permanent exhibition curated by the “Noch” Association, dedicated precisely to the ancient medieval state of the “Marquisate of Saluzzo”.
