A short descent followed by a short climb will take you past a few buildings, including Casa Alpina Luigi Barbieri. Shortly after this, turn right off of the paved road and onto a trail (sign), which will initially take you alongside an old fence and then up a short steep section into the woods.
Following the red-and-white markings, you will pass up through a lovely beech grove and then continue along a dirt road that will take you to the hilltop where there you will find the sanctuary dedicated to Madonna della Neve (“Our Lady of the Snow”) in an area that includes a picnic area, a fountain, a small swing, and a café during the high season.
Inside the building, there is a 16th century shrine that, in the 1600s, was enlarged as a sign of gratitude of the local inhabitants for having survived the plague. Its current form came about in the 1800s. For the return trip, you can follow the same route in reverse, but we recommend continuing along the dirt road to the left, which initially has a sort of sidewalk and offers a stunning view out towards Roburent.
Near a curve, you will find a brief detour to your right that will take you to a vista point with benches and a fountain, where you can stop for a few minutes to enjoy the unmistakable silhouette of Monviso. The road continues downward, again passing alongside Casa Alpina Luigi Barbieri and back to the starting point.
