After Casteldelfino, the Valle Varaita reaches a fork: the left fork leads to Sant'Anna di Bellino, the right to Colle dell'Agnello, a well-known high-altitude pass open to cars. This second stretch, just a few kilometers beyond Lake Pontechianale, reaches Chianale, an enchanting alpine stone village. A vast plateau opens out to the west dotted with splendid alpine lakes reflecting the sun like gems set amongst pastures and rocks.
